Dry Erase Calendar

Yesterday I whipped up this adorable little calendar.  The new UV Coating option makes it dry-erase!   I used the 11x14 print, which retails for $4.95, I also used only Basic (free) art.  This makes a super affordable and personal holiday gift!  I can send the template to your account, or you can send me your photos and color preferences and I can make it for you for $5 more!  :)

The sound of settling...

We're finally starting to settle into our new apartment.  It's wonderful!  I really dreaded moving into an apartment, because I've heard horror stories.  Plus, I wanted lots of space and yard and all that jazz.  But I have to admit, I've been very pleasantly surprised.  We're on the "terrace" level, so when you come in from the parking lot, it's down a level.  Which means it's nice and quiet!  We don't hear any noise from the parking lot at all.  Our patio backs up to this little nature area with pretty trees and a little creek.  The location is great too!  Everything we could need or want is right down the street.  Oh, did I mention we have a dishwasher!?  I haven't had a dishwasher in like 3 years!  It's glorious.

R loves her new school too, which is a HUGE relief.  That was the biggest factor in finding a house, and the main reason we ended up "settling" for an apartment.  This school is amazing.  Everyone is warm, welcoming, and helpful.  There's a diverse population - racially and socioeconomically.  Parent involvement is high too. Our first event is a cultural festival this Thursday night.  It should be fun.  :)

Life is good!

Be your own boss

We all know the benefits of owning your own work-at-home business are plentiful.  You can set your own hours, you control your paycheck, you can stay home with your children, there's no worry of being fired...the list goes on and on.  Often, the problem is getting started.  It can be quite costly and time consuming to start a business.  You have to have a website, inventory, advertising, etc.  What if you had an opportunity to own your own business for less than $300?  Would you take it?  What if it was a business where you could help people preserve their family traditions and remember loved ones?   If you're interested in earning extra income for your family, while still being able to spend time with them, you're in luck!  I'm looking for strong, family oriented women to join my team!  Education, sales experience, design experience, none of it matters!  Anyone can do this business! All you need is a willingness to share the passion of Heritage Makers! Sound good?  Email me now!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Last night we had our team's Reunion re-cap call. We talked about the new products (which I've already shown you), there were also several announcements made.

As of right now, all printing is done in house with the exception of the 8x8 board books. This is super exciting because it means quicker production/shipping times! The shipping times were one of the biggest complaints, so this is wonderful! We spoke and they listened! Gotta love that! :)

We also got a beautiful new catalog. Complete with new art, templates, and LOWER PRICES! Woohoo! Another benefit of bringing things in house. :)

One more thing...we've done away with "credits" and are now working on a "points" system. This means that instead of buying a credit for a specific product, you'll buy points that can be used for anything you want! This is much simpler, and works really well for those of that change our minds often. :)

New Goodies {Sneak Peek}

The other night I got a sneak peek of some of the new artwork that will be released on August 12th.  There's some super cute stuff coming!  Plus, even more basic (free!) artwork!  Very exciting. :)  Here are a couple screen shots I was able to get from the webinar.  I hope I don't get in trouble for sharing!  ;)

Here is a clip of some holiday artwork.  Looks like we have some Christmas, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving...hmmm...what might that castle and crown be??

Here's a little snippit of a template using the holiday collection shown above.  I'm thinking we might have some gift tags here, but I'm not sure!  What do you think?

Here's some lovely Euro-style artwork.  We'll also be getting this cute little things called "clusters".  The artwork is already clustered together.  All you have to do is drag and drop to your project and then drag and drop your photos in!  You could have a complete project (think canvases!) in 3 steps!  Can you imagine!

Here's a clip of a project template using the clusters and Euro-style art.  So sweet!  I wonder what it could be?

Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention and I didn't get a screen cap of the last set.  I did see some cute little fairies though!!  :)  Here's a snip of a template using the fairy theme.  Love it!

This is only a small sample of what will be revealed August 12th at Reunion.  There will be 31 new collections and over 1,000 individual pieces added!  As far as I know, this is the most that's ever been added at one time!

In honor of all this new stuff, I want to offer my readers a special incentive.  I'm offering 2 hours of FREE design time on ALL orders placed before August 12th.  This includes Christmas in July purchases as well!  Your two hours can be used anytime before your credits expire.  This would be a fabulous way to get your Christmas cards done!  Buy them now at a great price and let me design them for you!  It doesn't get much easier than that!  Email me asap to place your order!

xoxo,
Sarah

Take fabulous photos this summer!

I don't know about you, but summer is my favorite season of all!  I love all the colors, the sunshine, the food, the water!  Here are some quick and easy photography tips that will help you capture all the details that make summer so wonderful!

Read the manual
Figure out what all those fancy settings are for, and when to use them!  You'd be surprised by what a difference they can really make.  I know I was!

Use natural light to your advantage
The best time of day to take photos is early morning or later afternoon, known by photographers as the "golden hour". This is true whether you’re photographing people or scenery.  Taking photos during the "golden hour" you help you avoid the harsh glare of the sun directly above.  Plus, there will be less squinting!  Taking photos with the sun behind you (the photographer) will make skin tones appear warm and the colors in the photo will be saturated, giving the photos a soft, glowy look.  Taking photos with the sun behind the subject will provide some really neat silhouette effects.

Keep it candid
Candid photos capture the fun, carefree spirit of summer much more so than posed photos.  Keep your camera on so you're always ready to snap a photo, and take several pictures in a row.  Even professional photographers take a ton of photos just to get a few really great shots!

Don't delete until you get home
Sometimes a photo can look bad on the small screen of your camera, but once you get it home and see it on a larger scale, it could be the perfect shot!

Don't run out
Be sure to keep extra batteries and memory cards on hand so you don't run out of juice!

Stay organized
Make sure your photos and memories don't get lost in the digital shuffle.  Upload them to www.frommemoriestokeepsakes.com when you get home.  Use albums and folders to keep them organized.  You can also add notes to the photos so you don't forget what was going on at the time.  You can even share your photos with family and friends!

Storybook 'em!
Get those photos into a storybook a.s.a.p.!  Check out our Summer Survival Sale for great packages deals!

Happy snapping (and scrapping)!

The wedding was wonderful! We gave our friends their gift on the evening of the rehearsal, and they loved it! They even hung it in the reception hall above the guest book. It's such an amazing feeling to give someone a gift that they will cherish forever...long after the toasters and bread makers have quit working. Talk about warm fuzzies! :)

Newest Project

I literally just finished designing and publishing this project.  I'm really excited about it!  It's a 20x8 gallery wrapped canvas.  It's going to be a gift for some good friends of ours who are getting married this month.  It was about $80 with shipping, tax and all.  Which is pretty reasonable considering it's completely customized for them!  They definitely will not end up with 5 of these!  And I'm pretty sure they won't want to return it!  :)

*The pink border is not part of the canvas.

Oh, I also submitted it as a template...I hope it gets chosen!  How cool would that be?  :)

Super Cute Project!

I had a couple swatch book credits that expire today so I whipped up a little cousins book for my daughter and her cousin.  I just finished it!  I think it turned out pretty cute!  Of course, being the perfectionist I am, there are still things I would change...but I'm out of time!  I had to get them published tonight!  I did the same book for both of them, they'll each get their own copy.  :)

Here it is!

Here's a sample picture from the website so you can see what the actual swatch book looks like.  It's the perfect size for little hands.  It's also a great size for mom/gramma's purse!  ;)

Okay...now it's time to sleep!

Friendly Reminder

Mother's Day is just around the corner!  Let me help you create a one-of-a-kind gift for your mom!

March's Pick of the Month is the 8x8 Storybook.  Until March 31st you can get this book for only $37.95!  Think about it; you can go to a department store, spend all day searching for that special gift only to settle on something she "might like" OR you can put all her most treasured photos into a high quality Storybook that you KNOW she will love!  And it's probably cheaper than anything you could find in a department store!

Our templates make it so quick and easy to put a book together, but of course you can design it yourself as well.  Here are couple examples to get your creative juices flowing!  :)

Finally, Pictures From Savannah!

We took a very short trip to Savannah, Ga last week.  J was working, so we didn't get a lot of sightseeing time.  What we did see was even more beautiful than I expected.  :)  I can't wait to go back with all the kids over Spring Break.  The flowers should be in bloom by then and I'm sure it'll be even more spectacular!  :)

Without further adieu...
Spanish moss covered trees.

Just beautiful!
